Abstract

In this paper I have tried to link two novels: Enrique Vila-Matas’ Historia abreviada de la literature portátil (1985) and Roberto Bolaño’s Estrella distante (1996). For this work I have taken as an axis of comparison the invented literature history that appears in both works and the mechanisms used for their construction. Through these histories, I have emphasized, also, the intertextual game existing in two books, motived, of course, for the mutual interest of each author that has resulted in a deep friendship until the decease of the Chilean writer.
