Abstract

In this article we intend an approach to Prague (1982), the book of poems of the spanish writer Manuel Vazquez Montalbán; for doing this we’ll take into account the works of Pierre Nora and Dominick LaCapra, specifically the notions of “historical memory” and “memory sites”. The paper tries to show how the poetic evocation transcends the specific historical event (the soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968 after the so-called “Prague Spring”), so that the city and the history the book refers don´t have an univocal meaning, it is Prague and yet is Barcelona, is the Jewish persecuted by the Nazis and is the speaking subject with his hybrid cultural character, is the history of Europe and that of Spain.
